What Helping Griffin is

Helping Griffin is a local community outreach project created to support the work of FODAC Griffin and help more people in our area learn about the assistance available to them.

FODAC Griffin helps people with disabilities and others with mobility needs access refurbished medical equipment, while also giving the community a place to donate equipment that can be prepared and put back into service.

Helping Griffin was created to make that local mission easier to find, understand, and share.

Our goal is simple

• People who need equipment: make the local process easy to understand and the Griffin phone number easy to find.
• People who have equipment to donate: show how an unused item can help someone else.
• People who want to volunteer: recruit help, especially for cleaning and preparing donated equipment.

About Mark

I’m Mark Rosenthal, and Griffin has always been home to me.

Multiple Sclerosis changed my life in a major way. It eventually took the use of my right side, forced me to leave work and go on disability, took away my ability to drive, and left me mostly homebound.

But it didn’t take away my purpose.

Because I know what it feels like to struggle and need help, I started using my computer skills and my knowledge of Griffin to connect local people with information and resources that can make a real difference.

I run large Facebook discussion groups serving Griffin and Spalding County, and I also created Mark Helps Griffin, another free community resource project, to help people find food assistance, medical care, disability resources, jobs, transportation, housing help, emergency assistance, and other local services.

I’ve also worked to support FODAC and other disability causes, help people locate wheelchairs and medical equipment, and put useful resources in front of families who might never find them otherwise.

Helping others gives my life purpose. Everything I do comes from my love for Griffin and my desire to give back to the community I’ve always called home.

A donated lift received through FODAC Griffin made a difference in Mark Rosenthal’s own life. He created Helping Griffin to help spread the word.
